Main Purpose: Design integrated electronics for new CBI products, such as enhanced circuit breakers, energy meters, remote monitoring and IoT connected products. This position reports to: Head of Design – Electrical.
Job description

Main Responsibilities
  • The Design Engineering department is responsible for innovation, design, simulations, specifying bill of materials, rapid prototyping, firmware integration and documentation of assemblies or systems for use in:
  • Products for electrical protection and energy metering.
  • Automated test equipment to support CBI’s mass manufacturing processes.
  • The individual’s role in the department is flexible, such that responsibilities and remuneration will scale with the level of experience, skills and career goals of the applicant.
  • Liaise with internal and external role players (e.g. Quality Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering, Software Engineering, Project Management, Certification, Tool Design, Procurement, Suppliers, Sales, Export) to support innovation, design and manufacturing.
  • May be required to occasionally travel to customers, suppliers or CBI’s other sites.

Minimum requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum BSc (Eng.) / BEng degree in Electronics (BTECH OR BEng Tech applications will NOT be considered).
  • 3-10 years design experience in
  • Electronic design, PCB layout and prototyping
  • Writing software / embedded firmware

Advantageous

  • Relevant Master’s Degree or other relevant qualifications
  • Knowledge of IoT networking, system integration and other software

Competencies

  • Good communication skills
  • Self-motivated, working unsupervised or remotely
  • Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary design team
  • Taking ownership of projects and execute from problem identification to implementation
