Job description

Main Responsibilities:

The work and responsibilities of a Mechatronics Engineer will cover a range of test activities, including inter alia the following duties: -

  • Review and identify process’ for Automation.
  • Equipment selection based on performances, reliability, cost and compatibility.
  • Programming and Control:
  • Hardware, software and firmware.
  • Prototyping and Testing:
  • Build prototypes of identified process’ to evaluate their performance and validate their designs by collecting data, analyse results, and make improvements based on the findings.
  • Troubleshooting and maintenance:
  • Engineers to diagnose and rectify issues related to automation systems.
  • Identify faults and implement corrective measures to ensure the systems operate optimally.
  • Routine maintenance and calibration tasks may be required.
  • Research and Innovation:
  • Engineers must remain up to date with the latest technologies.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Engineers must document their design decisions, system configurations, and any modifications made during the development process.
  • Technical documentation is to be created in the form of user manuals and specifications, which will assist maintenance and future improvements
  • Compliance and Standards:
  • Engineers must ensure that their designs and automation testing systems comply with all independent safety certification bodies.

Minimum requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree or B-tech in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering
  • Experience in Automation
  • Technical Skills – Proficiency in various technical areas and this may include software programming languages i.e., Labview, Matlab and familiarity with control systems and automation technologies
  • Analytical and Problem-solving Skills
  • Project Management Knowledge
  • Manufacturing experience will be advantageous
