Introduction
The role is responsible for supporting the design, implementation, governance and reporting of the Group’s remuneration, benefits and reward practices while ensuring the delivery of accurate, compliant and efficient payroll operations. The role provides specialist support on compensation structures, benchmarking, incentive plans, statutory compliance, payroll governance and contributes to competitive and legally compliant reward practices.
Job description

The work and responsibilities will cover a range of activities, including inter alia the following duties: 

Professional Service Delivery

·       Manage and administer the short- and long-term incentive plans (including relevant calculations).

·       Assist with reviewing incentive plans by assessing their effectiveness and financial implications, thereby ensuring that plans drive the desired behaviour.

·       Provide support to management relating to periodic remuneration processes (i.e annual increases, incentive plan target setting and achievement assessments), by liaising with relevant departments and ensuring that consolidated reports are submitted for review.

·       Conduct remuneration benchmarking to obtain market data to inform remuneration decisions.

·       Develop paylines by using internal salary data and applying statistical analysis to these to enable effective remuneration decision-making.

·       Prepare periodic and ad-hoc reports.

·       Identify opportunities to improve processes and operational efficiency.

 

Remuneration Reporting

·       Draft and maintain the Group’s remuneration report for inclusion in the integrated report.

·       Review and propose improvements to the remuneration report.

·       Prepare remuneration disclosures relating to executive remuneration, incentive outcomes and pay gap analysis, for the Group and its subsidiaries.

·       Ensure disclosures are aligned with applicable legislative requirements.

 

Advisory and Solution Development

  • Remain abreast of relevant local and global best practices to determine the most appropriate solutions for the Group.
  • Monitor remuneration trends, legislative developments and emerging reward practices.
  • Consult with HR teams and other business partners on relevant remuneration and benefits-related matters.
  • Provide remuneration advice in line with the Group’s remuneration policies, guidelines and legal requirements.
  • Participate in projects, understand business needs and assist in developing appropriate solutions.

 

Governance and Controls

·       Maintain payroll and remuneration controls and ensure adherence to the Group’s compliance and governance standards.

·       Ensure that systems, processes, and related documentation are in line with internal controls and all other relevant legislative requirements.

·       Ensure remuneration practices align with the Group’s remuneration philosophy and reward principles.

·       Assist with internal and external audit requirements.

 

Stakeholder and Supplier Management

·       Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, to ensure improved understanding of the internal and external remuneration environment and its impact on the business. 

·       Ensure that service level agreements with third party suppliers are adhered to.

·       Engage with external suppliers ensuring that they meet project objectives.

·       Assist with stakeholder information requests, where appropriate, and provide timely solutions to resolve queries.

 

Payroll Service Delivery

·       Administer and manage multiple payrolls.

·       Update payroll records and submit for review and approval.

·       Prepare monthly and periodic and ad hoc payroll reports as required.

·       Prepare inter-company journals and third-party reconciliations.

·       Ensure the accurate and timely submission of all statutory submissions including EMP201, EMP501, ROE and related requirements.

·       Ensure compliance with legal requirements by enforcing adherence and advising management on required actions.

Minimum requirements

Qualifications and Skills Requirements

·       Bachelor’s degree in HR, commerce, or related field.

·       Postgraduate qualification in HR or related field would be advantageous.

·       6 to 8 years relevant experience in remuneration, benefits, and payroll, including stakeholder management in a complex environment.

·       SARA membership.

·       Global Remuneration Professional (GRP) certification would be advantageous.

·       Proven track record in delivering remuneration related outputs.

·       Short- and long-term incentive plan development and administration experience.

·       Experience in preparing a remuneration report for a JSE listed entity.

·       Experience with conducting remuneration benchmarking and other remuneration related analyses.

·       Strong MS Office Package skills, particularly advanced MS Excel.

·       Experience with HR information systems and payroll platforms.

·       Strong knowledge of remuneration governance, related legislation, tax regulations, and employee benefits.
