Introduction
We are looking for a hands-on, results-driven Production Supervisor to join our Operations team. In this role, you will supervise and coordinate day-to-day production activities, ensuring that products are manufactured safely, efficiently, on time, and in accordance with approved quality standards and production targets.
You will lead and develop a team of production employees, allocate resources, monitor performance, control production materials, and drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at minimising waste, downtime, defects, and safety incidents.
Job description
Production Planning & Execution
- Translate the production plan into clear daily and weekly team objectives
- Allocate employees, workstations, materials, and equipment to meet production priorities
- Coordinate workflow and respond promptly to shortages, bottlenecks, breakdowns, quality concerns, and changes in demand
- Monitor output against specifications, schedules, and targets, and implement corrective action where required
- Receive, verify, control, and account for production kits and other issued materials
People Leadership
- Communicate expectations, priorities, safety requirements, and standards clearly to all team members
- Supervise, coach, and support employees to achieve required levels of safety, quality, productivity, and conduct
- Train and assess new or reassigned employees on work instructions, equipment, and assigned workstations
- Provide timely performance feedback and escalate recurring performance or conduct concerns in line with company procedures
- Promote teamwork, discipline, accountability, and a respectful working environment
Safety, Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure compliance with approved work instructions, quality requirements, safety procedures, and housekeeping standards
- Investigate production variances, defects, rework, waste, downtime, and safety incidents, and support corrective and preventive actions
- Identify inefficiencies and implement practical improvements using lean manufacturing and quality tools
- Maintain accurate production records and provide timely reports on progress, risks, and constraints
Administration
- Prepare and maintain accurate shift, attendance, production, quality, safety, and material-control records
- Complete required reports and administrative tasks within agreed deadlines
- Escalate operational risks, resource constraints, and deviations promptly to the Senior Production Manager
- Participate in production meetings, audits, investigations, and improvement initiatives as required
Minimum requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent qualification (essential)
- Diploma in Production Management, Manufacturing Technology, Operations Management, Supervision, or a related field (advantageous)
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience in a manufacturing or production environment, including supervisory or team-leading responsibility
Technical Skills
- Production planning, scheduling, workflow coordination, and resource allocation
- Team supervision, coaching, training, delegation, and performance management
- Problem-solving, root-cause analysis, and sound decision-making
- Clear verbal and written communication, including shift handovers and operational reporting
- Material control, inventory accuracy, production reporting, and MRP/ERP systems
- Application of lean manufacturing, 5S, waste reduction, and continuous-improvement methods
- Quality-control awareness, defect prevention, and corrective-action follow-through
- Practical knowledge of occupational health and safety procedures, risk controls, and incident reporting
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and relevant production systems
