Introduction
The Head of Operations reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and serves as a key member of the management team. This role is responsible for creating, planning, implementing and integrating the strategic operations of the company — providing overall direction, control and management of all activities to ensure the seamless and timely execution of the company's operational objectives.
Job description
- Strategic Responsibility Develop and execute an operational strategy aligned with the company's vision, monitor performance and respond to stakeholder changes.
- Financial Management Develop and manage the operations budget, optimise resources, monitor financial performance and ensure cost-effective delivery.
- Operations Management Oversee all operational activities, drive efficiency, implement improvements, ensure quality and on-time delivery, and maintain regulatory compliance.
- Human Capital Management Build and manage a high-performing team, ensure the right skills and capacity are in place, and foster a positive, productive work environment.
- Stakeholder Management Engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, suppliers and regulators.
- General Support business growth, ensure sound risk management and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
Minimum requirements
- Bachelor's Degree (NQF Level 7) in a relevant field (e.g. Engineering, Business, Operations or related)
- A tertiary qualification in Operations or Management will be advantageous
Experience:
- Minimum 10 years' experience in the defence industry in a similar senior position
